Lending a Hand

He may be making great strides with Team GB, but a Manchester gym will always be home for a man helping the next generation.

Conner Tudsbury has been back at Moss Side Fire Station Boxing Club from his Sheffield base, and as we've been finding out, he's never afraid to get stuck in and lend a hand.

A Maverick Stars ambassador, Conner's success has inspired the next generation of young fighters at his gym.

"It's a really great thing to hear," he said. "I want to succeed because I want to show them it's possible to come from Moss Side or round here, or from an amateur boxing gym, and actually achieve something that's your dream."

Bash Khaliq, one of his amateur coaches, heaped praise on the influence Conner has had on youngsters in Moss Side.

"He's a very good role model for a lot of the kids round here," he said. "If Conner can do it, it encourages other kids to stay in the sport instead of going off the rails."

Conner had been working with kids in the gym pre-lockdown, and is eager to get going again once restrictions are relaxed.
