DAVE RIMMER

Coach at Wimborne ABC 

Dave is the head coach at Wimborne ABC, a professional boxing trainer and Dorset county coach.   Formerly a member of the armed services, Dave completed several tours of Iraq along with other desert destinations. Following seven years of service, he left to pursue opportunities in the fitness industry. It was then that his passion for boxing resulted in him opening his own gym in the town he grew up in.    One of his key areas of work has been creating opportunities for girls. There wasn’t any scope for girls in Wimborne to get involved in the sport until Dave launched ‘Girls In Gloves’ in partnership with Maverick Stars trust. The aim of the initiative is to increase female participation in boxing whilst also helping to combat mental health issues in younger girls.   The programme has been a huge success and continues to grow at a rapid rate. Dave was also instrumental to the set up of ‘Sting like a Bee’, in his home county of Dorset, a project we continually run across Greater Manchester to help tackle serious youth violence and ASB.
