OPERATION WARRIOR
Maverick Veterans has launched a new initiative called “Operation Warrior” with the aim to provide support and opportunities for Veterans of the British Armed Forces.
Many veterans encounter problems upon leaving the forces with poor mental and physical health and low self-confidence key amongst them, some find it hard to adjust to a new and less structured environment struggling to find their way.
This has contributed to a veteran suicide epidemic in recent years.
Increasingly, Boxing clubs are becoming excellent community hubs within deprived areas, these areas also often coincide with a high population of veterans.
Physical activity has a positive influence on mental wellbeing, increasing motivation and relaxing mood and stress levels.
The project will engage and support as many veterans as possible throughout the UK and introduce them to boxing.
The Courses
The eight week programme will provide free weekly boxing sessions and team building days with professional coaches in our nations best England Boxing affiliated gyms.
Wellbeing
Various studies show that exercise on a regular basis has a number of positive benefits for those that are managing chronic conditions.
The Future
Maverick Stars Trust will continue to offer our partnerships the help and support needed to carry on the initiative themselves after the 8 week period.
Dates, expected start and finish of project: Dec 2020/2021 ongoing sustainable project funding dependant.
