Cindy Ngamba
Ambassador
One of boxing’s hottest prospects, it has been a remarkable journey for Cindy who was born in Cameroon but arrived in Bolton as a child after a two-year spell in Paris. She was granted refugee status in the UK due to her sexuality – being gay is illegal in the central African nation.
Cindy has competed at the World Championships for the Fair Chance refugee team but is dreaming of competing on the international stage for GB Boxing once her citizenship status is settled.
Already part of the training set-up in Sheffield, Cindy is good friends with fellow Maverick ambassadors Kerry Davis, Delicious Orie and Conner Tudsbury, who are all on the GB podium squad.
When back in Bolton, Cindy trains at Elite Boxing under the guidance of respected coach Alex Matvienko. Elite is a long-standing partner of Maverick Stars with the club delivering many community initiatives – work Cindy assists with.
