Walkden ABC has been providing basic boxing lessons to schools in the area, to keep pupils active during the latest lockdown.

Maverick Stars' coach Danny Wright has put together six sessions teaching key skills in the sport, mixed in with intense fitness sessions.

Working with Walkden Co-op Academy and other surrounding schools, the lessons will give those who take part a head start if they take up boxing when Jamie Moore's amateur boxing club in the area can finally open its doors.

The first session was launched on Thursday with an introduction to the boxing stance, before pupils will learn how to throw and defend both the jab and back hand over the next few weeks.

Alongside this, coach Wright will continue to run sessions at the Co-op Academy for year 7 pupils.
