Maverick Stars would like to wish our friend Martin Murray all the very best in his bid to finally win a world title when he takes on Billy Joe Saunders in London tonight.

Trained by Maverick Stars ambassadors Jamie Moore and Nigel Travis, Martin has fallen just short in four previous world title fights – a draw with Felix Sturm followed by a very contentious defeat to Sergio Martinez and losses to Gennady Golovkin and Arthur Abraham.

The 38-year-old now has one last throw of the dice when he challenges the unbeaten Saunders for his WBO world super-middleweight belt. A huge underdog, Martin is a winner regardless of the outcome of this fight. After overcoming his own troubles as a young man, he found salvation through boxing. More than a decade ago, Martin qualified as a youth worker and is determined to continue to help young people in his home town St Helens.
